Australia Top 100 Managed Funds review
Yahoo! At last, here is a book on funds to complement Roth’s Top Stocks.
The author, Dr Lavers of discount fund brokers Neville Ward Direct, draws on supplementary information from Morningstar Research to put together a list of the top 100 funds.
In the first part of the book the author considers some theories and principles related to the practices and perils of dealing with managed funds. The second and larger part of the book is dedicated to the funds themselves, a page at a time. Using pie charts, performance statistics and the philosophical basis for the fund, each fund is described, its strengths and weaknesses exposed, and its possible location in the reader’s portfolio suggested. The book does not give advice on specific funds. Decision-making is the responsibility of the reader.
This book has two important roles: one as a good ready-reckoner for a DIY Super Fund Manger looking for quality information; the other as a guide for investors who want to give their financial planners and advisers a hard time.
Australia’s Top 100 Managed Funds 2004 should prove to be a well read and dog-eared addition to the collection of resources the investor uses as references.
